Cornelius Community Center
First Christian Church anticipates that our church will be able to be more involved in mission in our community as a result of this new Community Center. Our plans for the Community Center are varied. First, we will use it to continue housing volunteers who come to our city to help rebuilding post-Katrina. Second, we will use this space to minister to our community by offering: space for civic groups to meet (Boy and Girl Scouts, counseling, support groups, A.A., etc...), classes and seminars (ESL, parenting, spirituality, care giving), space for ecumenical meetings, as well as additional space to be used for First Christian Church's classes and ministries (as we are at capacity in our current building).

Cornelius Community Center Update
The dedication of the
Cornelius Community Center
was Sunday, October 31, 2010!
Services began at 10:30am with a pot-luck luncheon following.
Special guests attended, and Mrs. Dorothy shared a few words with us.
What a day!
Thanks to everyone who was present for the dedication service
of the Cornelius Community Center.
Thanks, also, to all who had a part in planning for, preparing for, and pulling off such a great event.
All went very well. We had so much food and fun and fellowship that we all left full in many ways!
Pictures and videos are forthcoming.... thanks to David and Denny.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
OOOOWWWEEE! I don't know about you, but I am so full you could split a tick on my belly! Praise the Membership Team for putting on this fellowship extravaganza in the CHRISTening of His new Cornelius Community Center! Please let Membership Team under Nancy's leadership, and all that contributed and prepared dishes know that the loving hands that went into this honoring event truly blessed this Body of Christ at FCC(DOC) Slidell and that you and we together are grateful.
Hopefully, we all see that Membership potlucks are beyond a simple congregational meal; the joy and fellowship of the event touches everyone (beyond our own Church) who attends and comes into His light! Next time when Nancy says bring a friend, she means it cause these are some bodacious vittles and the opportunity to touch a heart while breaking bread together is powerful stuff indeed!
In Jesus' Name,
~Herve
