OUTREACH MINISTRY: FCC is currently involved in several ministries to reach out to our community and our world in the love of God. - Christian Women's Fellowship, CWF, sponsors an annual November bazaar, sending the funds to various groups.
- Our congregation takes part in six annual offerings sponsored by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). These funds go to Disciples Mission Fund, supporting Week of Compassion, Reconciliation, Overseas Missions, starting new churches in the USA and abroad, and funding its national ministries, of caring for the elderly, and supporting higher education for lay persons and clergy. See the entire list.
- FCC is part of the Northshore Disaster Recovery, an organization committed to the rebuilding of St.Tammany Parish post Katrina. FCC houses volunteers for this organization.
- FCC plays a role in the life of Greenbriar Nursing Home. Our elders and deacons visit the home every Sunday and provide a word of encouragement and communion to the residents. We also provide devotional reading material for them each month as well as participate in gift giving during Christmas.
- FCC takes part in Samaritan's Purse shoe box ministry each Christmas, sending gift packages to children around the world.
- FCC takes part in an annual medical Mission Trip to Belize.
- Our Outreach Committee is active and is continually coming up with new ideas and ministry opportunities. Stay online for upcoming Outreach events in our neighborhood.
EDUCATION MINISTRY: At FCC, our desire is to carry out Christ's command to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20). One of the ways that we feel we can do that is by providing a variety of opportunities for personal growth in faith and service. We offer several Bible studies for all ages. Our worship service is designed to be not only a worshipful experience but an educational one as well.

Missions and Ministry Hey, all you summer missionettes out there! Wow, a lot has gone on in July for Missions - both group and individual effort. · Friday, July 11, we had Susan Lassalle, Joe Lindsay, Sandra Lindsay, David Soroe, Caroline Poupart, Sadie Lewis, Courtney Hollenbeck, Danielle Lewis, Debi Safford, Kori Harrell, Floyd Safford and Max Clay pack over 200 lunches and serve 35 lunches at Mount Olive Church here in Slidell. We will be doing this again… three Thursdays… July 31, Sept. 18, and Nov. 20… so if any women from Bazaar workshop want to go, they could. (Can't make any of you ladies upset this way!) And, on Tuesday, Dec. 30, the Youth Group could participate. Mount Olive does this every day except Sundays. What a wonderful mission this is; Miss Lydia runs it and does all the cooking. A really sweet spirit! · Our Mission team to Port Arthur, TX from July 13 - 19, consisted of Susan Lassalle, Tammy Curry, Cindy and David Soroe, Linda Jamison, Kevin Jamison, Floyd and Debi Safford, Nicole Lara, Daniel Jones and Andrew Taylor. I encourage everyone to consider doing a mission trip as you bond with your team members, you learn that you can do things you never thought you could and most important, despite the hardships, you become enriched serving our Lord by serving his children. · By the time this newsletter comes to you, our church will have collected a lot of school supplies for Abney Elementary School. How could we forget after Katrina the church from Indiana that sent an 18-wheeler loaded with furniture for our members? There is a person who wants to take a 12-ft. trailer loaded with furniture to a FCC church in Iowa, which was recently flooded, just as a lot of us were almost three years ago. We will announce when you can get furniture to the church sometime this month. On the Saturday after Labor Day (Sept. 6), we are asking that all who are able join us to distribute FCC pamphlets in nearby subdivisions. I encourage each member to become involved in serving our Lord whether as an individual or in a group. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ mightily bless each one of you and give you peace. Yours in Christ's Love, Dr Joe & Sandra Lindsay & the wonderful Missions Team A Few Stewardship Exercises § Faith: When confronted with a fear, worry, anxiety or something you don't want to do, pray "Jesus, I give this to you, you own it, please give me peace, comfort and guidance". § Prayer: When you meet people in the morning, at work or in your day, silently say a small prayer for their wellbeing. § Time: Pick a night of the week and turn off the TV, the computer, the gamebox and read a book, do a craft, play a game, study something enriching. § Treasure: Pick a habit that you do that you don't like, every time you do it put a dollar in a jar. Offer it to God along with your regular Giving. § Family: Pick a family member you haven't seen or spoken to in sometime, visit or call them and tell them that you cherish and love them. § Talents: Think about what it is that you do well, when starting that act pray "Jesus, I do this in your name". § Earth: Purchase a canvas tote bag, leave it in your car and use it when you buy groceries.
